High Performance Team

BIG DREAMS - HARD WORK

COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE

The KKZ HP program is designed for athletes who are competing, or aspiring to compete at World Championship and Olympic level.

Catering primarily to sprint kayak athletes racing the distances from 200-5000m, KKZ takes a holistic approach to developing elite level athletes.

All athletes in the program receive:

  • completely individualised training programs within a team training environment
  • regular one-one technical coaching
  • support managing non-sporting commitments
  • regular progress meetings with the coaching team.

Competing at this level requires dedication, self-discipline, a love of the sport, and the ability to manage a high training load. Under the expert guidance of our two coaches (program head coach Jernej Župančič Regent, and Melanie Schembri Waite), our HP athletes train 6 days a week, with senior athletes training twice per day. They also regularly travel abroad for training camps and major competitions.

KKZ welcomes international collaborations which allow athletes and coaches to learn from, and push each other. We have HP athletes and teams from abroad training with us both permanently and for camps so if you’re interested in training with us, get in touch.
